BitGo is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer

The DevOps/SRE Engineer will lead the design and implementation of highly available digital asset infrastructure using Kubernetes, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability across global operations. This role emphasizes Infrastructure as Code, automation, and operational best practices, directly supporting systems managing over $100 billion in digital assets.

Responsibilities

  • Design and promote the use of advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and automation frameworks across teams, establishing standards and fostering innovation.
  • Lead collaboration across engineering and business units to identify infrastructure needs and deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions aligned with strategic goals.
  • Assess, adopt, and deploy open-source and commercial tools to strengthen security, expand infrastructure capabilities, and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Implement cloud cost optimization strategies, including capacity planning, resource right-sizing, and reserved instance management.
  • Own and execute technical roadmaps for critical systems, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational objectives.
  • Enhance operational reliability and system performance through proactive project leadership, advanced incident response, and mentorship during on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating and securing complex Kubernetes environments with expertise in ArgoCD, GitOps, Grafana, and advanced Terraform usage.
  • Strong background in Linux system administration, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security hardening.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts such as VPCs, security groups, load balancers, CNI plugins, and network policy enforcement.
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, preferably Go, along with strong bash scripting skills.
  • Extensive operational experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including query optimization, index management, and connection handling, as well as large-scale object storage systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using Github Actions and designing robust CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with major public cloud platforms and advanced container orchestration, including cost optimization and capacity planning; primary operations on AWS but multi-cloud skills are transferable.
  • Minimum of five years of experience building, securing, and maintaining high-stakes, production-grade systems.
  • Excellent analytical and communication abilities, with a proactive and inquisitive mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in security operations, including vulnerability management, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and audit processes such as SOC, ISO, and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced skills in observability, web security threats, CSP, SIEM tools, and uptime-critical infrastructure management.
  • Track record of converting technical initiatives into measurable business impact and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experience building internal tools, automation, or infrastructure that improved developer or operator efficiency at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with blockchain or crypto infrastructure, including running nodes and validators.
  • Prior work in financial services or regulated industries.

Compensation

Depending on leveling and location, the base salary for this role averages between $180,000 and $220,000 USD. The total compensation package includes equity and an annual performance bonus.

Work Arrangement

Onsite in Palo Alto, CA, US or San Francisco, CA, US. Requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including weekend coverage.
