What You'll Do
Lead the development of Canva’s Indonesian voice across all product interfaces, ensuring clarity, consistency, and cultural appropriateness. You’ll craft and refine content, oversee translation workflows, and collaborate with localisation partners to deliver high-quality user experiences. Maintain and evolve a comprehensive style guide and glossary tailored to Indonesian speakers, reflecting both linguistic accuracy and local nuance.
Review translations from vendors for quality, tone, and technical precision. Identify gaps in current localisation strategies and propose actionable improvements. Evaluate new language service providers and help onboard them into existing workflows. Serve as the go-to resource for linguistic questions, supporting teams across product, design, and engineering with culturally informed insights.
Run evaluations of automated testing outputs, triaging results to ensure linguistic integrity. Work closely with technical teams to understand implementation details and provide feedback that bridges language and functionality.
Requirements
You bring strong writing skills and a natural ability to communicate clearly and engagingly in Indonesian. Experience in creative writing or design is an asset. You’re skilled at adjusting tone based on context and audience, and you understand how language shapes user experience. You’re passionate about linguistic diversity and its role in making digital products accessible.
You can translate complex, ambiguous concepts into simple, effective language. You’re comfortable discussing technical specifications with engineers and strategic goals with product teams. Proficiency with Atlassian tools and familiarity with basic web technologies are essential. Strong organisational and documentation practices are a must. Prior experience in localisation within a SaaS environment is required.
