SLR was looking for a Hydrologist / Hydraulic Modeller

Role Overview

We’re seeking a skilled Hydraulic Modeler with strong experience in TUFLOW to lead technical work across flood risk, water quality, and sustainable infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex modelling assignments, provide expert input to multidisciplinary teams, and help shape the direction of a growing technical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage advanced hydraulic modelling projects from concept through to delivery
  • Deliver flood mitigation studies, sediment transport analysis, and water quality assessments
  • Support green energy infrastructure projects with robust hydraulic analysis
  • Review technical outputs and guide junior modellers in best practices
  • Communicate complex findings clearly to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to project planning, business development, and client engagement

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in hydraulic modelling
  • Proven track record using TUFLOW, ESTRY, and Flood Modeller
  • Working knowledge of Irish flood planning guidelines and technical standards
  • Proficiency with QGIS or equivalent GIS platforms for modelling workflows
  • Direct experience leading technical reviews and managing project delivery in Ireland or the UK
  • Valid Irish driver’s licence
  • Chartered status or active pursuit of professional accreditation

Experience with TUFLOW FV is a strong advantage. You must be comfortable working across diverse project types and collaborating within integrated teams.
