About the Role
The role involves leading the design and implementation of HVAC and plumbing systems across a range of building types, supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed designs for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems
- Prepare engineering calculations and performance specifications
- Collaborate with architects and other engineers on integrated building solutions
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance
- Produce construction documentation and technical drawings
- Ensure designs meet safety, energy efficiency, and environmental regulations
- Support project management with cost estimates and scheduling
- Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information
- Apply industry codes and standards to system design
- Coordinate with permitting authorities and regulatory agencies
- Troubleshoot technical issues during construction phases
- Optimize system performance using modeling and simulation tools
- Lead design reviews and coordinate input from multiple disciplines
- Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance
- Maintain project records and ensure documentation accuracy
- Integrate sustainable design practices into mechanical systems
- Evaluate new technologies and materials for system improvements
- Assist in commissioning and testing of installed systems
- Communicate with clients to understand project requirements
- Manage changes to design scope during project lifecycle
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and control procedures
- Support bidding and procurement processes for mechanical systems
- Prepare operation and maintenance manuals for completed projects
- Work across multiple project types including commercial, industrial, and public facilities
- Adapt designs to meet local climate and site-specific conditions
