Position Overview
Seeking a certified Heavy Duty Mechanic to deliver expert maintenance and repair services for high-capacity Caterpillar mining machinery in the Elk Valley region. This role supports critical operations in both shop and remote field environments, ensuring equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using advanced testing tools and computerized systems
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on ultra-class mining equipment in diverse working conditions
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer service needs, maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency
- Follow site-specific safety protocols and support compliance with on-site operational standards
- Uphold service quality in line with customer commitments and technical best practices
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a valid Interprovincial Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment. A clean driver’s abstract for the past five years is required. Candidates must currently reside in the Elk Valley, as no accommodations or camp options are provided. Eligibility to gain site access—including passing drug and alcohol screening and fitness assessments—is a condition of employment. The ability to use respiratory protection is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Proven background in electrical, hydraulic, and emissions systems
- Experience with engine or component rebuilds
- Knowledge of transmission or hydraulic testing procedures
- Exposure to gas engine systems or power generation equipment

- Base wage of $67.63, inclusive of shift premiums and allowances

Work Environment
