OPG is looking for a Health Physics Technologist to operate and maintain dosimetry systems and perform specialized radiation measurements. Reporting to the Manager Dosimetry, you will ensure the accuracy of health physics programs and environmental monitoring in compliance with laboratory procedures.
What You'll Do
- Operate, monitor, and maintain external and internal dosimetry systems to measure whole body, extremity, and bioassay radiation doses.
- Perform specialized measurements, analyses, monitoring, and testing as required by health physics programs.
- Configure computers to laboratory instrumentation and maintain environmental and radioactive waste process monitoring systems.
- Conduct radiological analysis on collected samples and safely handle, test, and dispose of samples and chemicals.
- Maintain a clean lab environment, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition and properly stored.
- Prepare and maintain lab records, source records, log books, test results, and non-conformance event reports.
- Prepare chemical and radiological solutions, identify and resolve abnormal analyses, and perform non-routine tests.
- Develop alternative analytical methods and commission new or repaired equipment.
- Participate in designing new systems and procedures, conduct quality control for dosimetry devices, and operate company vehicles for fieldwork.
- Respond to emergencies as needed and ensure health and safety compliance for self and others.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 education, plus 3 years of community college in a related field.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Manager Dosimetry.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $41.77 - $68.35 per hour.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in Whitby, ON.
