Lead the compliance function for a fast-moving, technology-first brokerage operating in Singapore, reporting directly to senior leadership and serving as the designated Primary Compliance Officer. You will ensure full alignment with MAS regulatory expectations, including the Securities and Futures Act, Financial Advisers Act, and AML/CFT requirements, while supporting a scalable, innovation-driven business model.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the principal representative for all compliance matters with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, including regulatory examinations, thematic reviews, and ongoing correspondence
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve a risk-based compliance framework tailored to a digital brokerage platform and its operational footprint
- Interpret new and proposed regulations, assess business impact, and drive cross-functional implementation across legal, product, engineering, and operations
- Oversee the full lifecycle of the AML/CFT program, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, and sanctions controls
- Develop and enforce compliance policies, internal controls, and escalation protocols aligned with MAS guidelines and global best practices
- Lead or support regulatory submissions, internal audits, and remediation initiatives to address control deficiencies
- Deliver compliance training to local and global teams, ensuring awareness and adherence across functions
- Collaborate with product and technology teams to integrate compliance requirements into new features and system design
- Provide independent oversight of operational, conduct, and technology risks affecting the Singapore entity
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for senior management and governance committees on compliance posture and emerging risks
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Primary Compliance Officer and AML Officer under MAS supervision
- Strong working knowledge of MAS notices and guidelines, including AML/CFT, Outsourcing, and conduct risk expectations
- Track record in managing regulatory engagements and maintaining compliance monitoring plans for financial services firms
- Experience building and overseeing AML systems, surveillance tools, and reporting workflows
- Ability to lead compliance risk assessments for new products and business initiatives
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with legal, risk, technology, and operations teams
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment with minimal oversight
Compensation & Work Environment
This role offers a competitive salary, stock options, and health benefits. New hires receive a one-time USD $500 stipend for home-office setup and a recurring USD $150 monthly allowance via Brex Card.
