As a Graphic Design Trainee, you'll play a key role in shaping visual content that supports the communication goals of an international life sciences institution. Based at the Heidelberg campus, you'll work closely with experienced designers to develop engaging materials for internal and external audiences, helping to bring complex scientific ideas to life through thoughtful design.
What You'll Do
- Design layouts for print and digital formats including posters, flyers, web content, and social media assets
- Adapt and produce marketing materials for scientific events using established templates and data
- Collaborate with communications colleagues to create visuals for research news and announcements
- Build and refine reusable templates for scientists using Microsoft and Google productivity tools
- Contribute creative solutions that bridge design principles with scientific content
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in visual communications, graphic design, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite—especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
- A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Interest in science and a willingness to learn technical concepts for accurate visual representation
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining attention to detail
- Creative problem-solving skills and initiative in design execution
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Express for rapid content creation
- Experience in illustration or motion graphics
- Working knowledge of European languages such as German, French, Italian, or Spanish
- Passion for science communication and public engagement
