About the Role
The Grant Writer will create and manage persuasive funding proposals, working closely with program teams to translate project ideas into well-structured applications that meet funder guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential funding sources aligned with program objectives
- Draft, edit, and finalize grant proposals and concept notes
- Collaborate with technical teams to gather project data and outcomes
- Ensure submissions meet all donor formatting and compliance standards
- Maintain calendars for grant deadlines and reporting requirements
- Track proposal submissions and follow up with funders as needed
- Develop budgets and justification narratives in coordination with finance staff
- Compile supporting documentation for each application package
- Revise and improve templates based on feedback and success rates
- Conduct post-submission reviews to assess strengths and weaknesses
- Stay updated on trends in climate and environmental funding
- Write clear, concise narratives tailored to specific donor priorities
- Translate technical project details into accessible language
- Support donor reporting by providing narrative sections and updates
- Assist in building internal knowledge base of successful proposals
- Coordinate with external partners for joint applications
- Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across submissions
- Manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Participate in strategy sessions for new funding opportunities
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive project and financial data
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, or related area
- Experience writing international climate finance proposals
- Familiarity with Green Climate Fund or similar mechanisms
- Track record with six-figure or larger grants
- Second language proficiency, especially Spanish or French
