NTT DATA is looking for a GCP Engineer to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will focus on database administration and support within a 24/7 production environment, managing PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases across multiple cloud platforms. You will be a key part of our inclusive, adaptable, and forward-thinking organization.
What You'll Do
- Support traditional server-based relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis DB, MongoDB) and public cloud environments (GCP).
- Manage PostgreSQL databases on AZURE, GCP, and AWS RDS, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and test backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS, AZURE SQL, and GCP Cloud SQL.
- Design and implement disaster recovery plans for PostgreSQL databases.
- Provide 24x7 shift hours support at L1/L2 levels.
- Update KB articles, Problem Management articles, and SOPs/runbooks.
- Work directly with end customers, business stakeholders, and technical resources.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training.
- Perform database health checks, log rotation/maintenance, and architecture design per application requirements.
- Write best practices documents for shading and replication for Dev/App teams.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of overall operational experience.
- 2+ years of GCP experience as a cloud DBA (PostgreSQL/MongoDB).
- 3+ years working in diverse cloud support database environments in a 24x7 production support model.
- Query fine-tuning for MongoDB.
- Shell scripting for monitoring (slow queries, replication lag, node failures, disk usage).
- Experience automating backup and restore processes with shell scripts/Ops Manager.
- Conducting comprehensive database health checks.
- Performing database upgrades and maintenance for data center outages.
- Architecture design as per application requirements.
- Writing best practices documents for shading and replication.
- Performing log rotation and maintenance.
- Segregation of duties and user management design.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years supporting traditional server-based relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis DB, MongoDB), with 1+ years in public cloud environments (GCP).
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/MongoDB installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated expertise managing PostgreSQL databases on AZURE, GCP, and AWS RDS.
- Experience with features like automated backups, maintenance, and scaling for PostgreSQL.
- Ability to analyze and optimize complex SQL queries for performance.
- Proficiency in setting up and managing monitoring tools and configuring alerts for PostgreSQL on GCP.
- Good understanding of database security principles and best practices.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize database configurations.
- Passion for delivering timely and outstanding customer service.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong ITIL foundation experience.
- Ability to work independently with no direct supervision.
