Globant is hiring a Gaming Tech UI Designer

About the Role

Globant is hiring a Senior Gaming Tech UI Designer to implement visually captivating user interfaces for games. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create engaging, functional, and user-friendly interfaces that significantly impact player experiences. At Globant, we believe diversity drives innovation and are committed to maintaining an inclusive culture and a safe, equitable space for everyone.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, game designers, and developers to create visually engaging, functional, and user-friendly interfaces for games.
  • Work on UI Systems Design, break down features and wireframes into necessary widgets, structures, and classes, and increase UI performance by ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Ensure assets and UI are within memory and CPU constraints, learn to profile performance, and understand the costs of UMG, Slate, C++, and texture memory.
  • Implement blueprint logic for presentation needs, assist UI Artists with implementing special presentation behavior, and consult with UI engineers on logic placement between Blueprint and Native Code.
  • Debug blueprints and UMG issues quickly using various tools and techniques.
  • Find ways to assist UX, UI Art, and UI engineering teams in organization, documentation, and building workflow improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience building UI and experiences in game engines across multiple platforms (mobile, web, PC, consoles), or similar transferable experience.
  • 2+ years of experience shipping updates and new features to a user base on a regular cadence, or similar transferable experience.
  • Professional experience using Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop; Illustrator a plus), game engines (custom engine, Unity, UE4, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.), and an understanding of game industry 3D-package experience (3D Studio, Maya, etc.).
  • An eye for pixel-perfect UI, with the ability to translate mockups into the engine and spot various potential issues.
  • A logical problem solver who pays strong attention to detail and has excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to 'translate' communication across departments and empower non-technical team members.

Nice to Have

  • UI work on 2+ AAA game titles.
  • C++ and scripting experience.
  • Experience with building materials and shaders in UE.

Technical Stack

  • Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Game Engines: Custom, Unity, UE4, Lumberyard, Snowdrop
  • 3D Packages: 3D Studio, Maya
  • Tools: UMG, Slate, C++, Blueprint logic

Team & Environment

You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, game designers, and developers in a cross-functional team structure.
