Globant is looking for a Game UI Designer to join our team. You will be responsible for creating visually engaging, functional, and user-friendly interfaces for games. In this role, you will focus on UI systems design, performance optimization, blueprint logic implementation, and cross-departmental collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, game designers, and developers to build visually engaging and user-friendly game interfaces.
- Work on UI Systems Design, breaking down features into necessary widgets, structures, and classes while ensuring best practices to increase UI performance.
- Ensure assets and UI are within memory and CPU constraints, learning to profile performance costs for tools like UMG, Slate, C++, and texture memory.
- Implement blueprint logic for presentation needs and assist UI Artists with implementing special presentation behavior.
- Debug blueprints and UMG issues quickly using various tools and techniques.
- Find ways to assist UX, UI Art, and UI engineering teams with organization, documentation, and workflow improvements.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience building UI and experiences in game engines across multiple platforms like mobile, web, PC, or consoles.
- 2+ years of experience shipping updates and new features to a user base on a regular cadence.
- Professional experience using Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop, with Illustrator a plus), game engines (Custom, Unity, UE4, Lumberyard, Snowdrop, etc.), and an understanding of 3D-package software like 3D Studio or Maya.
- An eye for pixel-perfect UI, with the ability to translate mockups into the engine and spot potential issues.
- Logical problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and communication skills.
- The ability to translate communication across departments, empathize with non-technical team members, and empower others on your team.
- Good English, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- UI work on 2+ AAA game titles.
- Experience with C++ and scripting.
- Experience building materials and shaders in Unreal Engine.
