Leapfrog Power, Inc. is looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus and solid DevOps experience to build, scale, and operate the core systems that power our platform. You will be joining a mission-driven team working to combat climate change by enabling a reliable electric grid that runs on clean energy.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to backend development within our Kotlin-based microservices platform.
- Work closely with product and design to shape product direction and validate ideas.
- Partner with other product teams to ensure features integrate with our event-driven architecture.
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews.
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform.
- Operate and improve Kubernetes-based production systems for availability and resilience.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Improve observability across the stack using Datadog and related tooling.
- Help eliminate toil through automation, tooling, and better processes.
- Ensure security best practices across infrastructure and applications.
- Make small to medium frontend changes in React to support new features.
- Collaborate with frontend-focused engineers and designers.
- Actively use and advocate for AI-powered development tools to improve velocity.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong backend engineering skills and proficiency in at least one backend language.
- Ability to complete a coding assignment in a JVM-based solution (Kotlin preferred).
- Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM).
- Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Terraform.
- Experience operating applications in Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems, preferably GitLab CI/CD.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools like Datadog.
- Comfortable writing production code and scripts in Kotlin, Python, Go, or Bash.
- Basic familiarity with modern frontend technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and networking fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of modern security practices.
- Based in the European timezone and fluent in English.
- Proficiency with AI-powered engineering tools and belief in their value.
- Experience working effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of working hours.
