The Walt Disney Company is hiring a Full-Stack Developer to bring stability, predictability, and technical excellence to a complex environment supporting 15+ stakeholder departments and maintaining ~20 internal business applications. You will take ownership of core applications, translate stakeholder needs into solutions, and tackle challenging technical problems.
What You'll Do
- Lead core development in designing, building, and maintaining critical internal web applications using React, Django, and Python.
- Systematically work through the application backlog to deliver high-priority features and improvements with high-quality, tested code.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, sharing best practices through code reviews, pair programming, and establishing standards.
- Troubleshoot, support, maintain, and strategically modernize legacy applications (including PHP, Ruby, etc.).
- Collaborate directly with 15+ stakeholder departments to understand needs and translate them into clear technical requirements.
- Participate in architectural decisions and 'build vs. buy' analysis for new projects to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Be a role model for the collaborative, 2-week Agile sprint process, focusing on accurate estimation and shipping value.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of proven experience building, shipping, and maintaining complex, data-driven web applications in a production environment.
- Deep mastery of Python and the Django framework, including building complex features and optimizing performance.
- Proven experience in the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance, scalable, and secure APIs (RESTful/GraphQL).
- Proficiency in a modern JavaScript-based framework (ideally React) and superset language like TypeScript.
- Ability and willingness to read, understand, and refactor legacy code, including in languages like PHP or Ruby.
- Exceptional, clear, and proactive communication skills for collaborating with technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Pragmatic problem-solving attitude with ability to context-shift and manage competing priorities.
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating AI features into web solutions, including LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) and modern AI/LLM development stack (LangChain, LlamaIndex).
- Understanding of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma).
- Past experience in a VFX/Animation production environment, especially with Autodesk Shotgrid/Flow Production Tracking.
- Solid understanding of data engineering principles (ETL/ELT, data modeling).
- Familiarity with securing web applications and services with modern authentication/authorization principles (SSO, OAuth 2.0).
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes) and deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
- Experience using coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and interest in helping the team develop best practices.
