Nationale-Nederlanden is hiring a Freelance Engineering Manager for our Customer & Digital Retail domain. You will lead and build teams transitioning to a modern tech stack within an empowered-product model, focusing on delivering business value and high customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Hire and retain engineering talent with strong technical and interpersonal skills, fostering a safe and inclusive work environment.
- Provide guidance, support, and professional development for engineers under your management.
- Remove impediments and secure resources to resolve larger organizational issues for team success.
- Evangelize the empowered-product team vision and support the company's transformation into a technology-focused organization.
- Guide the team to prioritize automation, address technical debt, and phase out legacy systems and processes.
- Maintain and enhance your own technical skills through self-study, conferences, and collaboration.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- 3+ years mentoring and managing engineering expertise.
- Experience with web and app development, including design, development, and testing best practices.
- A talent for coaching and developing soft skills.
- An insatiable desire to help others grow and expand their knowledge.
- Flawless English language skills, both in speaking and writing.

Team & Environment
You will lead two teams consisting of circa 15 highly skilled engineers reporting directly to you: the MijnNN team and the Onboarding & Authentication team in the retail domain. You will report to the Head of Retail at Customer & Digital and functionally to the C&D Lead Engineering Manager.
