Polaron is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll play a central role in connecting product capabilities with customer objectives—working closely with sales, engineering, and clients to ensure technical alignment from early engagement through to long-term success. Your work will directly influence how customers experience the platform, from initial demonstrations to onboarding and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and present technical demonstrations tailored to client use cases, highlighting platform functionality and value
  • Collaborate with sales to assess technical fit, define project scope, and support proposal development
  • Conduct custom analyses during the sales cycle to validate technical feasibility and customer impact
  • Lead onboarding initiatives to ensure smooth implementation and early wins for new customers
  • Manage pilot deployments, overseeing both technical execution and coordination across stakeholders
  • Support customer success through direct troubleshooting, feedback collection, and targeted development
  • Translate field insights into actionable input for product teams, helping prioritize roadmap items
  • Represent the company at conferences and industry events to showcase technical expertise
  • Develop technical content that positions the company as a thought leader in advanced materials

What We’re Looking For

You have a strong foundation in a technical discipline and real-world experience applying it in industrial or research settings. You’re comfortable explaining complex systems to diverse audiences and thrive at the intersection of engineering and customer engagement.

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
  • At least two years of professional experience, preferably in materials, manufacturing, or applied R&D
  • Proven ability to work across teams, communicate clearly, and solve problems methodically
  • Detail-oriented with strong initiative—able to operate independently while staying aligned with broader goals

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree with focus on battery technology or electrochemical systems
  • Experience in fast-moving or resource-constrained environments such as startups
  • Leadership mindset—someone who helps refine processes and improve team effectiveness

Technology Environment

You’ll work with a modern stack built around AI-driven image analysis, cloud infrastructure, and interactive web tools. The platform leverages machine learning models, distributed computing, and visualization techniques for 2D, 3D, and graph-based data—all accessible through browser-based interfaces.

Work & Culture

This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring four days per week in the Shoreditch Exchange office and one day remote. The team values ownership, open communication, and a grounded approach to problem solving. We prioritize curiosity, scientific rigor, and long-term thinking—while staying focused on delivering tangible results.

Benefits include 25 days of annual leave plus two additional festive days, gym membership, daily coffee, and meaningful equity in a company with strong growth potential. We’re building a culture where people grow together—contributing ideas, sharing knowledge, and shaping the future of materials innovation.
