Role Overview
Work remotely as a tax specialist during the busy tax season with a top Canadian tax software provider. In this seasonal role, you'll deliver accurate, compliant tax preparation and advisory services to individuals using leading tax solutions. Your expertise will guide customers through the filing process, whether preparing returns end-to-end or offering targeted support as they file on their own.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise individuals on personal tax matters, ensuring accurate and compliant filings with the CRA
- Prepare, review, and file federal and provincial tax returns for diverse income types, including self-employment, rental, investments, and foreign income
- Respond to customer inquiries through written and verbal communication, clarifying complex tax topics in clear, everyday language
- Research current tax regulations and apply professional judgment to maximize eligible credits and deductions
- Support customers in gathering required documentation and navigating tax software tools
- Use internal resources, government websites, and team collaboration to resolve technical issues and deliver precise answers
- Follow established procedures to address customer needs while maintaining data accuracy and compliance
Qualifications
You bring hands-on experience in individual tax preparation and a solid understanding of Canadian tax systems. Key requirements include:
- At least three years of professional tax preparation experience using tax software
- History of preparing 125+ personal returns per season over the past three years
- Proven experience with T1 returns, including T1135, pension, student, and foreign income scenarios
- Strong grasp of federal and provincial tax laws and filing requirements
- Proficiency with Windows, mobile devices, and G-Suite applications (Docs, Sheets)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Flexible availability during peak tax season
Preferred Experience
- Bilingual fluency in English and French (spoken, read, written)
- Experience with Quebec TP1 filings
- Prior work in a customer support or contact center environment
Technology Used
Windows, mobile platforms, G-Suite, TurboTax, and professional tax preparation software
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $25.50 – $34.50 (varies by province: PEI, BC, Nova Scotia)
