Boston Scientific is hiring a Firmware Engineer Intern to join the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. In this R&D role, you will contribute to the development of implantable cardiac devices by designing embedded firmware and building software tools that support diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment workflows.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop tools and software solutions that support implantable cardiac device development
- Contribute to embedded firmware design and implementation for Active Implantable Systems (AIS) technologies
- Develop and maintain software using C++, C#, and Python to support diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment workflows
- Take initiative in identifying and solving technical challenges related to device functionality, data flow, and system integration
- Support innovation efforts that advance AIS therapies across the continuum of care
- Ensure engineering solutions align with clinical needs, regulatory standards, and patient safety requirements
- Participate in Agile development processes
What We're Looking For
- A current rising junior or rising senior (graduation dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), a graduating senior (May 2026 grad) continuing on to grad school, or a current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship.
- Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (with software skills)
- Ability to start the internship on May 18th or 26th, 2026 and work for 12 weeks
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Experience with Python, C++, and C#
- Experience with embedded firmware in school or work projects
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
