QuidelOrtho is hiring a Field Engineer I to support our mission of transforming diagnostics for a healthier future. This field-based position is located in Montgomery, AL and covers customers throughout Central Alabama. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment primarily in hospital and clinic laboratory environments.
What You'll Do
- Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and systems issues to determine solutions.
- Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements.
- Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical training and product briefings for customers, vendors, and company representatives.
- Act as the local on-site representative to the customer's organization.
- Manage all territory responsibilities including Preventive Maintenance and hardware/software upgrades.
- Provide service support directly in the hospital/clinic laboratory environment.
- Manage individual parts inventory, online training, and administrative expense reporting.
What We're Looking For
- An Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent 4 years of military or field service experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field.
- A team player who is self-motivated and interacts appropriately with peers, sales teams, and customers.
- Ability to organize and express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively.
- Ability to effectively manage assigned workload within allotted time constraints.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel overnight 50-75% to Rochester, NY, during the first few months of training.
- Post-training ability to travel up to 75% around the territory, with occasional overnight travel (1-2 nights per week).
- Willingness to work extended hours as required.
- Must meet Customer Credentialing requirements, which may include up-to-date immunizations.

- Experience within the Healthcare or Medical Device industry.
Team & Environment
You will report to Regional Service Managers and Area Service Directors. You'll work closely with the Field Service team, including other Field Engineers and Technical Specialists, and collaborate with the Sales team, including Area Sales Directors and Account Managers.

- Compensation range: $65,000 to $85,000.
