About the Role

QuidelOrtho is looking for a Field Engineer I to be our on-site service expert for customers throughout West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, based in Lubbock, TX. In this field-based role, you will ensure the optimal performance of our diagnostic equipment in hospital and clinic laboratories, directly supporting our mission to transform diagnostics into a healthier future.

What You'll Do

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment in a hospital/clinic laboratory environment.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical problems and systems issues to determine root cause.
  • Determine technical solutions aligned with product and customer specifications, recommending actions for coordinated product resolution.
  • Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Conduct technical training and product briefings for customers, vendors, and internal company representatives.
  • Act as the local on-site representative to the customer's organization.
  • Manage all territory responsibilities including Preventive Maintenance and hardware/software upgrades.
  • Provide direct service support within the clinical lab environment.
  • Handle individual parts management, complete required online training, and submit administrative expense reports.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent 4 years of military or field service experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in a field service role.
  • A team player who is self-motivated and interacts professionally with peers, sales counterparts, and customers.
  • Ability to organize and express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, in individual or group situations.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively, with demonstrated skills in electro-mechanical, chemistry, computer, or related disciplines.
  • Ability to effectively manage assigned workload within allotted time constraints.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to travel overnight 50-75% to Rochester, NY, for initial training. Post-training, must be able to travel up to 75% around the territory, with occasional overnight stays (1-2 nights per week).
  • Must meet Customer Credentialing requirements, which may include up-to-date immunizations.
  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Team & Environment

You will collaborate with internal partners across Field Service, Sales, and Technical Specialist teams, and interact with other functions like Finance, HR, and IT as required.

  • Compensation range: $65,000 to $85,000.

Work Mode

This is a field-based, local-city position operating from Lubbock, TX, with extensive travel throughout the assigned territory.
