Harris County’s Department of Economic Equity & Opportunity (DEEO) is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support directly to the Executive Director. This critical role within the Executive Office supports the department's mission to connect, value, and empower people, businesses, and communities.
What You'll Do
- Perform general secretarial duties, coordinate travel arrangements, and handle correspondence.
- Provide excellent customer service to all users regarding all business functions.
- Assist the Executive Director by coordinating communications.
- Assist with preparations for meetings.
- Organize and manage the Executive Director’s calendar and schedule.
- Prepare travel requests, travel reimbursements, and PCard reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field AND 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Or, an Associate’s Degree in those fields AND 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience must be in communications, working with nonprofits, educational institutions, government, or issue-based campaigns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, and contact database systems.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License (Texas license upon hire).
- Ability to maintain and organize a high-impact schedule.
- Knowledge of public administration practices, local government issues, project management principles, presentation methods, and research techniques.
- Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated software applications.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, coordinate and review the work of others, understand department operations, and interpret policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with county officials and the public.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
- Must be comfortable working in an office environment.
Nice to Have
