Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co (M&T Bank) is hiring an Equipment Finance Senior Credit Underwriter. You will evaluate the credit risks of our MTEFC loan and lease customers through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, and cash flow analysis. The role develops comprehensive credit analyses for lenders to use in making decisions on new approvals and renewals.

What You'll Do

Review and analyze all pertinent credit and financial information for MTEFC customers seeking larger and/or more complex equipment finance loans and leases.
Make decisions on loan and lease requests within your assigned authority.
Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information and request it from Sales or the customer.
Based on your analyses, prepare a summary, present facts, and offer opinions concerning the creditworthiness of the customer following prescribed procedures.
Assign an overall risk rating to each credit request.
Assist in monitoring compliance to credit policy, commenting on risks associated with non-compliance and informing management.
Develop credit analyses for use by lenders in making lending decisions on new credit approvals and renewals.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software programs.
Strong analytical skills.
