About the Role
The selected candidate will evaluate air pollution exposure in vulnerable populations, conduct field monitoring, interpret regulatory standards, and contribute to policy recommendations using scientific data.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field measurements of air pollutants in urban and rural communities
- Analyze ambient air quality data using statistical and modeling tools
- Assess health risks associated with industrial emissions
- Support compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements
- Engage with community stakeholders to understand local concerns
- Prepare technical reports on air quality findings and recommendations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on environmental justice projects
- Review environmental impact documents for accuracy and completeness
- Present findings to regulatory agencies and public audiences
- Develop strategies to reduce exposure in overburdened communities
- Monitor changes in air quality regulations and guidance
- Use geographic information systems for spatial data analysis
- Evaluate emissions data from industrial facilities
- Contribute to the design of air monitoring networks
- Ensure data collection methods meet quality assurance standards
- Assist in grant reporting and project documentation
- Identify disparities in environmental health outcomes
- Apply environmental justice principles to technical assessments
- Support litigation readiness with defensible data collection
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of air toxics and criteria pollutants
- Work with community-based organizations on data interpretation
- Conduct literature reviews on exposure pathways
- Participate in site inspections and compliance evaluations
- Translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
- Coordinate with public health professionals on joint initiatives
