Responsibilities
- Contribute significantly to maintaining financial stability, improving capital efficiency, and assessing strategic expansion options.
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, investment, and executive teams to guide decisions using data while balancing risk, return, and compliance.
- Directly impact financial durability and long-term strategy by promoting sound risk practices and disciplined capital deployment.
- Help uphold regulatory compliance and support relationships with credit rating agencies.
- Assess strategic options such as mergers, acquisitions, reinsurance deals, distribution alliances, and new market entries.
- Develop and evaluate financial models for potential acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments.
- Carry out valuation methods including discounted cash flow, peer comparisons, and embedded value where appropriate.
- Analyze industry trends and competitive dynamics in life, annuity, and property & casualty insurance sectors.
- Assist in due diligence and post-transaction integration planning.
- Create and manage capital models aligned with regulatory and economic standards such as RBC, economic capital, and rating agency frameworks like AM Best and S&P.
- Evaluate capital sufficiency and guide allocation across business segments.
- Run sensitivity and scenario analyses to understand effects on surplus, profitability, and credit ratings.
- Work with actuarial and finance units on financial projections, reserve evaluations, and asset-liability management.
- Support ORSA submissions, rating agency reporting, and public capital disclosures.
- Help build and refine the enterprise risk management framework in line with NAIC and ORSA guidelines.
- Identify, evaluate, and track key risk categories including underwriting, market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks.
- Lead risk evaluation exercises, scenario planning, and stress tests for events like interest rate shifts, natural disasters, and policy lapses.
- Produce risk summaries and performance dashboards for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Engage with business units to create and monitor risk reduction initiatives.
