What You'll Do
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the curriculum.
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills effectively.
- Deliver literature lessons that develop analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Prepare lesson plans in accordance with school guidelines and schemes of work.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to enhance learning.
- Assess, record, and report on student progress regularly.
- Mark classwork, homework, exams, and assessments promptly and accurately.
- Provide constructive written and verbal feedback to students.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations.
- Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and achievement.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Attend staff meetings, CPDs, and departmental meetings.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and development.
- Support school events, activities, and extracurricular programs.
- Maintain accurate attendance and academic records.
- Follow safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Participate in school performance management processes.
- Monitor and support students with additional learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices.
- Ensure classroom displays and learning environments are stimulating and purposeful.
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and professional standards.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, Teaching Diploma, or equivalent).
- Valid teaching license (where applicable).
- Strong subject knowledge in English language and literature.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for varied ability levels.
