Remote is establishing its foundational Engineering Rulebook, a critical document that outlines our core principles, working methodologies, and technical environment. This role is central to fostering a culture focused on shipping fast, iterative execution, and asynchronous communication across our global engineering organization.
What You'll Do
- Focus on delivery through iteration and fierce execution.
- Commit to release dates and take responsibility for shipping on time.
- Communicate disagreements vocally and kindly, then commit fully to decisions once made.
- Avoid bikeshedding and endless discussions; converge quickly and execute.
- Over-communicate in public channels to ensure visibility and traceability.
- Take ownership, be proactive in decision-making, and avoid becoming a bottleneck.
- Schedule coffee chats and engage with others to build a stronger team.
- Document architecture decisions through ADRs and use RFCs for high-impact changes.
What We're Looking For
- A relentless focus on shipping as the top priority.
- The ability to disagree and commit.
- High productivity and the ability to manage your own schedule and well-being.
- Commitment to over-communication in an asynchronous environment.
- No ego or dogma; openness to evolution and questioning established approaches.
- A strong sense of responsibility for team-based delivery commitments.
Technical Stack

- Backend: Elixir, Phoenix, Postgres, Oban.
- Mobile: SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Error monitoring: Honeycomb, Datadog, LogDNA, Sentry.
- Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Gitlab, Go.
- Tools: Notion, Slack, Linear, Git, JSON Schemas, OpenAPI.
Team & Environment
Engineering teams follow 'The Remote Flow' working methodology, preferring continuous flow over fixed sprints. The ultimate decision maker for engineering is Sofia Silva.
Benefits & Compensation
- No predefined equipment budget; requests for tools, software, or hardware are considered based on need and frugality.
- Psychological safety and continuous feedback are emphasized.
- Focus on work-life balance; overworking is discouraged and time-off is encouraged to balance energy.
Work Mode
This is a global remote position.
Company Culture
Our culture is built on key mantras like 'Unshipped work is work not done'. We value execution, healthy disagreement, no bikeshedding, and no need for consensus. We prioritize psychological safety, taking care of yourself, continuous feedback, and aim to never surprise negatively. We operate with evolution, no dogmas, and no ego, questioning everything and adapting quickly. We believe the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and encourage getting to know others. We embrace weirdness, believing thinking unlike most is a superpower.
