Eaton Corporation is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team of product design engineers. You will be responsible for internal R&D, new product development, sustaining engineering, and cost-out projects for hold down/release mechanisms and electrical connectors, managing work from scoping through closure.
What You'll Do
- Lead teams supporting current design/development and legacy/sustaining product support for hold down and release mechanism products and related components.
- Lead engineers assigned to global, cross-functional teams supporting ongoing production, new product launches, and product manufacturing transfers/sourcing across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
- Manage teams responsible for communication with customer engineering teams and for product design and documentation via Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) using Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
- Manage teams that provide technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders and technical support to customers, suppliers, internal manufacturing engineers, and internal sales and marketing teams.
- Lead teams responsible for planning and specifying new product requirements and detailed validation/verification plans, witnessing product testing, and managing test program communication.
- Lead Eaton’s prototype and tooling manufacturing lab, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.
- Lead teams responsible for failure analysis including 8D problem solving and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) activities and MRB review of discrepant hardware.
- Set standards for creation and management of product data in Eaton’s PLM (Enovia) and support assessment of jurisdiction and classification of hardware and technical data per ITAR and EAR.
- Responsible for talent management including promotions, performance management, hiring, and coaching.
- Support ongoing sustaining engineering for electrical connector products as required.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.
- Minimum 7 years of product engineering experience.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering management experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge/proficiency in talent management including hiring and development of direct reports.
- Leadership experience including delegation and coaching of direct reports.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.
- Position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to ITAR. All applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration.
- Greater than 5 years experience in engineering management.
- Design knowledge of interconnect components (connectors, backshells/accessories, wiring assemblies) for aviation, aerospace, and industrial markets.
- Experience working with metallic platings/coatings and non-metallic materials including polymers, ceramics, and glass and graphite composites.
- Experience using Enovia Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) software and Solidworks CAD software.
- Experience directing product launches in Best Cost Country (BCC) locations in North America and in US manufacturing locations for military and/or aerospace products.
- Lean 6-sigma methods preferred, including Design for Six Sigma (DFSS/SSDD) Green Belt or Black Belt, or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Experience leading product qualification programs for mechanical and/or electrical products.
- Ability to interpret and generate 3D CAD models and drawings and complete basic engineering calculations.
- Knowledge of ECN/ECO processes for document change management.
- Demonstrated understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Proficiency in Product Data Management or Product Lifecycle Management systems.
