At Amplitude, we're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Guides & Surveys product, technical direction, execution, and team. This is a product-minded role focused on shipping fast, growing a team, and obsessing over user impact.
What You'll Do
- Own the Guides & Surveys product, technical direction, execution, and team.
- Ship like it’s your name on the commit.
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with PM, Design, and Tech Lead to turn raw customer pain into product breakthroughs.
- Scale systems that capture billions of user events, without melting down.
- Push the team (and yourself) to write clean, modern, scalable code, and know when to throw perfection out the window to move.
- Hire, grow, and retain A+ engineers.
- Build a team culture where people love coming to work, and get sh*t done.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- 2+ years of mobile experience.
- Experience managing teams that ship fast and learn faster.
- Shipped complex, high-impact products in fast-moving environments.
- Strong opinions on architecture, code quality, and how to balance speed with scale.
- Mastery of a modern stack (JS/TS, Python, AWS).
- Have fully embraced AI and are regularly pushing PRs.
- A sharp product sense. You ask “why?” more than “how?”
- Experience (or strong interest) in behavioral analytics.
Nice to Have
- You’ve taken 0→1 or scaled a startup product.
- You’ve led a team during a “holy sh*t we’re growing fast” phase.
- You write code when it makes sense, and know when to get out of the way.

- Compensation: Colorado: $227,000 - $341,000; New York City: $254,000 - $381,000; San Francisco Bay Area: $254,000 - $381,000; California outside Bay Area: $227,000 - $341,000; Washington state: $227,000 - $341,000. + equity: Role is eligible for equity.
