About the Role
This role leads the engineering function for a B2B platform, overseeing technical direction, team growth, and delivery of systems that support enterprise-level integrations and services.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the long-term technical vision for the B2B platform
- Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams through agile delivery cycles
- Collaborate with product and design to align technical capabilities with business goals
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance under high load
- Drive adoption of modern software practices and engineering standards
- Oversee architecture decisions and system integration strategies
- Manage engineering delivery timelines and resource allocation
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Recruit, develop, and retain senior technical talent
- Partner with security and compliance teams to meet enterprise requirements
- Lead incident response and post-mortem processes for critical systems
- Evaluate and integrate third-party tools and APIs into the platform
- Support platform evolution to meet changing business demands
- Promote data-driven decision-making across engineering functions
- Ensure consistent deployment and monitoring practices across services
- Champion platform documentation and knowledge sharing
- Work closely with operations teams to optimize infrastructure usage
- Guide teams in adopting cloud-native technologies and best practices
- Balance technical debt with feature development priorities
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration on shared platform components
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews and system design evaluations
- Monitor key performance indicators for engineering productivity
- Represent engineering in executive discussions and planning sessions
- Ensure alignment with company-wide technology initiatives
- Lead technical onboarding for new business partners
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in computer science or related field
- Leadership experience in B2B or enterprise software environments
- Direct experience scaling platforms to support thousands of business clients
- Background in marketplace or transactional systems
- Familiarity with identity and access management at scale
- Experience with global platform deployments
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in enterprise software
- Exposure to machine learning integration in backend systems
- Track record of open-source contributions
- Public speaking or conference presentation experience
