General Dynamics NASSCO is looking for an Engineer to support its piping and machinery system design group. You will apply your engineering expertise to develop detailed system designs, solve complex technical problems, and contribute to the development of naval and commercial vessels.
What You'll Do
- Perform design analysis and support calculations for Mechanical Engineering product development.
- Complete products with supervision and technical oversight at key junctures.
- Control scope creep and identify the implication of change for your group and immediate downstream customers.
- Facilitate resolutions to problems or technical issues using common industry methods.
- Participate in internal and external working groups, which may involve customers and regulatory bodies, and document discussions, decisions, and outcomes.
- Periodically provide technical leadership to a small team executing small scope projects.
- Mentor two or more Engineers.
- Teach other employees technical skills specific to your own discipline.
- Assist with the implementation of department processes.
- Understand where to find related requirements for current tasks and the specific rules, regulations, contracts, or references that apply.
- Use creative and analytical methods to develop, evaluate, and communicate the configuration and characteristics of a region, system, or component of the ship as governed by the assigned discipline.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree, Professional Engineer's License, or equivalent in Engineering or Applied Sciences.
- At least four years of practical experience exclusive of education in engineering design. Operational or shipyard test or production experience may contribute to this requirement.
