Vaughan Regional Medical Center / ScionHealth is hiring an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide critical, pre-hospital emergency care. You will ensure timely and compassionate medical support to patients in a variety of emergency situations, following established protocols.
What You'll Do
- Respond to emergency calls and provide basic life support within the EMT scope of practice.
- Assess patient condition, determine the nature of illness or injury, and provide appropriate treatment.
- Assist in lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely via ambulance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and family members.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment including oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitors.
- Document all patient care activities accurately per department and regulatory standards.
- Maintain the cleanliness, readiness, and inventory of emergency response vehicles and equipment.
- Support emergency room or hospital transport team functions as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education requirements.
- Follow safety and infection prevention protocols in all patient care activities.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited EMT program.
- Current EMT certification in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice to Have
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- One (1) year of experience in pre-hospital emergency care.
Technical Stack
- Electronic medical records (EMRs).
