The Oregon Department of Human Services is hiring for ten (10) bilingual Eligibility Workers (Human Services Specialists 3). In this role, you will determine eligibility for medical, food, cash, and childcare benefits through a person-centered, trauma-informed approach.
What You'll Do
- Interview applicants to gather and assess information for benefits such as SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Long Term Care, and Domestic Violence services.
- Perform eligibility determinations, redeterminations, and periodic reviews.
- Conduct interviews over the phone with applicants applying for benefits.
- Communicate eligibility decisions to applicants.
- Provide person-centered services with a trauma-informed approach to identify needs.
- Be responsible for accurate and timely eligibility determinations.
- Create a work environment where everyone feels welcomed, appreciated, and valued.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and ongoing education of cultural awareness.
What We're Looking For
- Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess client needs and interpreting/applying policies, rules, and guidelines.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (contingent upon passing proficiency test).
