Buncombe County Government is hiring an Elections Administrative Coordinator to serve as the Clerk to the Board of Elections. In this role, you will perform complex administrative functions requiring interpretation and judgement to organize and coordinate business activities for the department.
What You'll Do
- Manage the reception desk with excellent customer service skills in all types of communication.
- Support the Elections Director in administrative duties.
- Make travel and training arrangements for the office and Board when needed.
- Coordinate office-wide professional development and team activities.
- Interact with internal and external customers to obtain and provide information and assistance; screen and respond to inquiries and complaints.
- Independently organize and implement administrative support for a complex program; interpret and assist in developing program policies and procedures.
- Assist in the coordination, oversight, and completion of special projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and prepare agendas, memos, and minutes for assigned department, committees, and/or special projects.
- Coordinate logistics and schedules for various meetings, work sessions, briefings, and other events.
- Perform departmental support work such as personnel processes, purchasing office supplies, and receiving/routing invoices and contracts.
- Provide direct supervision to clerical, office, and/or administrative support staff.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative support, management, or closely related experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Must obtain a North Carolina Notary Public commission within 12 months of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Nice to Have
- Prior elections experience, which may include an administrative capacity or as a poll worker for a local, state, or federal government.
Team & Environment
You will report to the Elections Director. This role provides training and lead worker support through motivation, direction, review, and feedback of assigned tasks.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary Range: $58,450.38 - $72,977.76
