District Sales Manager – West will lead sales execution and team performance across the Western U.S. for a portfolio of life science instrumentation. The role is responsible for achieving revenue, order, and margin targets by implementing regional strategy and ensuring disciplined forecasting at the district level.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive financial performance by executing sales plans that deliver consistent results across the instrument portfolio.
- Manage forecasting accuracy for weekly, monthly, and quarterly commitments, aligning field input with business expectations.
- Develop and implement growth strategies using structured business methodologies, visual performance tracking, and data-driven decision making.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key customers and influential stakeholders in the life sciences sector.
- Identify market trends, competitive pressures, and emerging opportunities, then deploy effective responses to sustain growth.
- Collaborate with service, finance, operations, HR, IT, and legal teams to align resources and support sales objectives.
- Coach, develop, and manage a team of sales professionals, fostering capability building, engagement, and readiness for future leadership roles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a life science field or equivalent technical sales experience, particularly with high-value capital equipment in life sciences.
- Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets in the life science instrumentation market.
- Minimum of five years leading sales teams in a field-based environment.
- Experience managing forecasting, territory planning, and sales pipeline at a district or regional level.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement frameworks or business systems used to drive operational excellence.
- Track record of managing remote, geographically distributed teams effectively.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within the West region, including overnight trips as needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
Preferred Background
- Leadership experience in mass spectrometry, chromatography, or related analytical technology markets.
- Experience managing large, multi-state sales districts serving diverse customer types.
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a base salary between $140,000 and $165,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus and incentive pay.
