The American Cancer Society is looking for a Director, Strategic Insights to deliver human-centered, data-driven insights that shape our events, philanthropy, and volunteerism efforts. This remote role is central to our mission, translating ACS’s strategic goals into actionable research plans and ensuring insights drive decision-making, awareness, and engagement.
What You'll Do
- Lead research initiatives that inform ACS’s brand strategy and mission impact.
- Conduct and translate data into clear, actionable insights that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Track, report, and communicate the impact of insights on organizational performance.
- Conduct annual macro-level analysis to identify opportunities and increase engagement.
- Translate complex data into impactful visualizations and compelling stories.
- Integrate quantitative, qualitative, and AI-powered data sources for holistic insights.
- Develop and maintain measurement frameworks and KPIs linking insights to outcomes.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner, translating challenges into research requirements.
- Proactively identify research needs to ground decisions in human-centered understanding.
- Lead research to evaluate marketing campaigns and optimize performance.
- Help humanize strategies and creative briefs with deep consumer insights.
- Translate complex data into clear insights for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Build trusting relationships and drive enterprise-wide collaboration.
- Design and execute immersive research experiences like ethnographic studies.
- Stay current with emerging trends and proactively experiment with innovative research approaches.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 7+ years of hands-on marketing research and data analysis experience.
- 5+ years leading cross-functional initiatives and teams.
- Exceptional analytical, qualitative, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Robust, hands-on experience with market research techniques, survey design, sampling plans, discussion guide creation, and data visualization.
- Excellent critical thinking and ability to synthesize insights and influence action at multiple levels.
- Proven ability to translate analytic results into key findings for diverse internal audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus across all organizational levels.
- Impeccable interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Strategic mindset with courage to challenge assumptions and drive change.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to lead multiple initiatives.
- Accountability in holding self and others to meet commitments on time and budget.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills across all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail, quality control, and intellectual curiosity.
- Strong history of mentoring and coaching junior researchers.
