BeOne is hiring a Director, Senior IP Counsel, Small Molecule

BeOne is hiring a Director, Senior IP Counsel for its small molecule intellectual property team. This role provides critical legal support for our R&D, business development, and commercialization efforts in molecularly targeted and immuno-oncology cancer therapeutics. Reporting to the head of small molecule IP, you will be responsible for managing a robust and strategic patent portfolio in a fast-paced, remote environment.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain a strong intellectual property portfolio to support the company’s R&D, manufacturing, and commercialization efforts for biologics products.
• Identify patentable inventions, draft patent applications, and prosecute them through the patent office.
• Conduct patent and prior art searches, competitive landscape analysis, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
• Support corporate development, business development, and research collaborations, including due diligence, contract drafting, and alliance management.
• Monitor patent trends and case law developments in major markets to adjust IP strategies accordingly.
• Provide litigation support, including validity and non-infringement analysis.

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Admitted to the USPTO and at least one state bar.
• At least five years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical intellectual property practice.
• Deep understanding of global biopharmaceutical patent law, regulatory data protection, and best practices in the US and other major markets.
• Proven skill in drafting patent applications, responses to office actions, and developing patent portfolios.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently, balancing competing priorities with a high level of professionalism.
• Capacity to translate complex laws and regulations into practical, business-oriented legal counsel.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and responsive with a flexible approach to new responsibilities.

Nice to Have

• Advanced degree in chemistry or a related field, with a Ph.D. preferred.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a strong understanding of drug discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of biologics and small molecule drugs.

Team & Environment

You will report directly to the head of small molecule IP as part of the in-house IP legal team.

• Compensation range: $196,200.00 - $256,200.00 annually + equity.
