You will lead a major pricing model transformation, focusing on commercial auto insurance products across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves directing the pricing team, collaborating with business partners, and implementing sophisticated pricing strategies.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the rate review for all commercial auto products, focusing on improving pricing sophistication.
  • Recommend pricing strategies that vary by product type and regulatory framework.
  • Prepare necessary regulatory documents, ensuring actuarial practices comply with accepted standards.
  • Stay current on currently accepted and emerging insurance pricing methodologies.
  • Stay current on market condition changes and apply this knowledge to rate analysis.
  • Work with multiple company departments to identify profitable markets and design suitable products.
  • Lead the design, testing, and maintenance of new pricing models and tools.
  • Collaborate with the IT department on the implementation of rate changes in the system.
  • Closely monitor portfolio performance and the effectiveness of pricing strategies; proactively share findings and recommend solutions.
  • Effectively communicate pricing analyses and recommendations to a broad audience, including underwriters and the management team.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to analysts on technical and non-technical skills and provide regular performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Perform any other assigned tasks and handle special projects as requested by the Director, Actuarial Pricing for Business Insurance.

What We're Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial mathematics, statistics, mathematics, or another related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in actuarial pricing or a similar role in the property and casualty insurance sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of the property and casualty insurance sector and insurance operations in general.
  • Critical thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to synthesize and interpret data and information.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to convey complex information in a simple and engaging manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to develop and communicate a vision.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and take action.
  • Ability to welcome change positively and adapt effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in commercial vehicle pricing.
  • FCAS or ACAS designation.

Team & Environment

This role reports to the Director, Actuarial Pricing for Business Insurance.
