LyondellBasell (LYB), a leader in the global chemical industry creating solutions for everyday sustainable living, is hiring a Director, Global Polymers Process Engineering. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for global polymer and catalyst process engineering and sustain an effective interface with the manufacturing leadership team. You will collaborate with global key stakeholders to maximize utilization and profitability while continuously improving process safety performance.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic leadership for global polymer and catalyst process engineering.
- Engage with polymer business key stakeholders to influence technical direction.
- Actively participate in polymer and catalyst technology networks to drive performance improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement through the Value Enhancement Program by identifying, developing, and supporting execution of opportunities at existing sites.
- Participate in capital long-range planning and project prioritization.
- Provide process engineering input for growth opportunities including technology and site selection.
- Sustain effective interfaces with manufacturing leadership.
- Actively engage with site management and subject matter experts.
- Ensure process and personnel safety issues are addressed.
- Ensure global engineering resources are engaged to drive performance improvements.
- Coordinate front-end engineering support for emerging major projects up to $500 million.
- Drive continuous improvements in our performance culture.
- Mentor and coach manufacturing technical managers and their engineering organizations.
- Drive data-based analysis and recommendations.
- Identify and coach future polymer technology expertise.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to maximize polymer and catalyst asset utilization and profitability.
- Interface with leadership of other engineering disciplines to drive improvement.
- Engage with manufacturing sites to aid in performance improvement.
- Improve/create preferred practices for more efficient operation.
- Partner with R&D to plan and execute trials at manufacturing sites to differentiate products.
What We're Looking For
- BS in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a petrochemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of industry best practices in polymer process operations and optimization.
- Thorough technical understanding of company Engineering and Operational Excellence Standards.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Supervision and multiple group coordination with excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Mentoring skills to effectively transfer technical expertise.
- Leadership skills, technical knowledge and management experience in process equipment design, fabrication, inspection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and reliability improvement.
- Strong communication skills plus the ability to manage multiple diverse issues across a large, multi-site organization.
- Ability to lead long range planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Ability for global travel and to develop key relationships with global leadership.
- Fluent English.
Nice to Have
- International management experience.
- MBA and/or Lean Six Sigma training.
- Additional fluency in German and/or Italian.
Team & Environment
You will provide leadership of polymer and catalyst global process owners.
