Tribute Technology is looking for a Director, Data Engineering to lead and enhance our data pipelines, processes, and visualizations. You will manage a team of data engineers within the Data & Analytics team, collaborating cross-functionally to build solutions that support our mission of helping communities celebrate life and pay tribute to loved ones.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a team of data engineers to ensure timely delivery of data solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data engineering solutions.
- Design and implement data pipelines and processes to integrate data from various sources into our data ecosystem.
- Improve data observability and ensure the team follows best practices.
- Ensure timely resolution for data pipeline issues by implementing a monitoring and incident response strategy.
- Implement best practices for data governance, ensuring high data quality, consistency, and security across the data pipelines.
- Foster a collaborative environment, ensuring the team works cross-functionally with business stakeholders to deliver projects effectively.
- Collaborate with other technology leaders to ensure the data environment is reliable and resilient.
- Create and maintain documentation for pipelines, data assets, and data products.
- Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and promote continuous learning.
- Review and weigh in on functional and technical requirements.
- Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for data engineering activities.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or relevant field with 8+ years of technology experience including 3+ years as a data engineering lead.
- Prior experience in an eCommerce business with high-volume data (approximately 1B sessions annually) and integrating data across multiple business units.
- Strong knowledge of data engineering technologies such as Python, SQL, Spark, real-time streaming pipelines, and data warehouse solutions.
- Proven data engineering experience in cloud environments.
- Strong people management skills, including recruitment, performance management, and fostering growth and innovation.
- Experience in creating data products and/or a data product environment.
