Western Digital is hiring a Digital Transformation Engineer to lead our journey toward operational excellence through strategic software development and system integration. In this role, you will translate business needs into technical solutions by building scalable applications, automating workflows, and integrating manufacturing systems to drive our Smart Factory initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Drive Smart Factory automation initiatives that eliminate manual processes and transform traditional workflows into intelligent, data-driven systems.
- Identify and prioritize transformation opportunities while developing strategic automation roadmaps aligned with Industry 4.0 principles.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies like generative AI, machine learning, and edge computing to prototype innovative solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using C#/.NET (ASP.NET Core) with modern frontend frameworks.
- Deploy applications using CI/CD pipelines like Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions with zero-downtime strategies.
- Troubleshoot production issues systematically.
- Develop middleware and integration layers that provide unified interfaces, ensure data consistency, and implement caching or async optimization strategies.
- Monitor integration health with comprehensive logging, distributed tracing with Application Insights, and alerting.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in system analysis, software development, IT operations support, or a related role.
- Required manufacturing environment experience, preferably in HDD, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing.
- A track record of delivering technical solutions that improved operational efficiency.
- Basic knowledge of C#.NET, vb.NET, and LINQ or modern programming languages.
- Familiarity with MS SQL and the ability to write basic SQL queries.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with IIS, Windows Server administration, .Net, JSON, and Microsoft SQL.
- Advanced data visualization experience with tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire.
- API integration experience (REST, SOAP).
- Microservices architecture experience (Docker, Kubernetes basics).
