Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of integrated digital communications strategies across email, SMS, social media, and peer-to-peer platforms to advance ALC’s advocacy and narrative goals.
- Translate legal, policy, and programmatic work into clear, compelling, and values-driven digital storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Oversee all online communications, including advocacy actions, rapid-response campaigns, and event promotion.
- Ensure organizational goals and values are reflected in all digital strategies.
- Design and manage digital fundraising programs, including email fundraising, recurring giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
- Collaborate with development staff to align digital communications with overall fundraising goals and donor, cultivation, stewardship, and retention strategies.
- Use segmentation, testing, and analytics to refine messaging and optimize conversion rates, average gift size, and key long-term supporter metrics.
- Along with the Sr. Communications Associate, develop and manage a digital editorial calendar that aligns communications, fundraising, and legal/advocacy priorities across teams.
- Establish protocol and workflows that standardize digital content creation, approvals, and distribution.
- Ensure consistency in tone, framing, and narrative across platforms while adapting content to meet the needs of different audiences and channels.
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate digital staff, consultants, and/or contractors, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
- Set clear goals, performance metrics, workflows, and professional development plans for direct reports.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure digital efforts support programmatic and fundraising priorities.
- Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership on digital strategy, supporter engagement, and long-term growth.
- Oversee digital communications and fundraising tools, such as CRM, email, SMS, and online donation systems.
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance metrics related to engagement, growth, and revenue.
- Analyze, clean, and append data to ensure accurate and personal communications with supporters and donors.
- Own day-to-day website maintenance, QA, and content updates.
- Coordinate with external web developers on larger optimization and campaign microsite projects
- Enhance website user experience by implementing best practices and industry standards for accessibility, language access and responsive design.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in digital communications, digital fundraising, or digital campaigning within a nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organization with at least one (1) year of supervision experience
- Strong editorial and messaging skills, with demonstrated experience crafting compelling, values-driven digital content
- Demonstrated experience with digital fundraising platforms and success running online fundraising campaigns and growing digital revenue
- Strong understanding of email, SMS, social media, and peer-to-peer organizing tools
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Experience in legal communications, policy advocacy, or movement-building
- Mastery of A/B testing, segmentation strategies, and donor lifecycle planning
- Familiarity with data appending and acquisition techniques
- Project management experience with a strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks, lead cross-functionally, and execute with high level attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work some nights and weekends
- Knowledge of issues that affect Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, including strong understanding of the immigrant justice landscape and the political and cultural factors that influence ALC’s work
- Experience with with various CMS (such as Craft) and SEO tools and technological platforms including Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Constant Contact, Slack, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, GiveSmart, Asana, and others

Additional Information
- This is a hybrid role that is required to work in the office 2 days a week.
- Remote work in California, outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, will be considered.
- Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until filled.
- This position is eligible for language premiums for demonstrated proficiency in a language other than English that is regularly used in their job duties. The annual premium is $1,500 for oral proficiency and $1,500 for written proficiency in each language.
