NTT DATA is seeking a Digital Engineering Management Director specializing in Applied Robotics & Physical AI for its NA Innovation Center. In this role, you will evaluate advanced robotic technologies and develop cutting-edge applications, integrating machine learning and Gen AI to enable autonomous perception, reasoning, and action. This position combines research, consulting, and deployment to advance current autonomous solutions and meet client challenges.
What You'll Do
- Research emerging technologies in robotics, documenting and presenting ideas to the NA innovation team.
- Give weekly presentations of ideas and interact directly with clients on technology.
- Develop a growth pipeline with client executives for tech showcases, workshops, and technology evaluations or proofs of concept.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across vertical and horizontal teams globally.
- Apply innovative ideas to client needs and integrate them into NTT DATA's digital discussions and offerings.
- Support industry experts in positioning how robotics and AI technology will impact business.
- Drive robotics strategy by designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge robotic systems.
- Determine how to enhance and improve current autonomous solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Robotics, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience building robotics or Physical AI systems. Exceptional hands-on builders with strong demo portfolios are encouraged regardless of actual years.
- Hands-on development experience with mobile robots, quadrupeds, humanoids, and industrial/collaborative robotic arms (e.g., Unitree, humanoid platforms, FANUC-style arms, ROS-based systems).
- Tooling experience with ROS/ROS3, Gazebo, Issac Sim, or MuJoCo and understanding of real-to-sim workflows.
- Experience with sensors like LiDAR, depth cameras, and IMUs.
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software and programming languages such as C++, Python, and Java.
- Ability to develop and integrate AI/ML and Generative/Foundation models for perception, mapping, task planning, and embodied decision-making.
- Experience fine-tuning or adapting Generative/Foundation models (Small Language Model, Small-Vision-Language, Vision-Language-Action) for edge deployment in real-world robotic applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to business leaders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations pertaining to robotic systems.
