The DevOps Lead Engineer will lead the DevOps strategy for the mobile engineering ecosystem, focusing on reliable, secure, and scalable delivery of Android and iOS applications built with .NET MAUI. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on execution, advancing automation, pipeline efficiency, and site reliability engineering practices from commit through to production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of the end-to-end DevOps pipeline for a .NET MAUI-based mobile application targeting Android and iOS platforms.
- Design and manage GitLab CI/CD pipelines using YAML definitions, covering build, test, signing, and release phases for both mobile operating systems.
- Manage automation for mobile app releases, including version control, code signing, provisioning profiles, certificates, keystores, and submissions to App Store and Google Play.
- Implement and maintain secure secrets management across CI/CD pipelines in compliance with security and regulatory standards.
- Establish and enforce quality gates by integrating automated testing, code coverage thresholds, and release criteria into pipeline stages.
- Develop and maintain synthetic monitoring systems and alerting mechanisms to detect performance degradation in build infrastructure, release pipelines, and production app health.
- Optimize build performance and developer workflows to reduce cycle times and improve engineering throughput.
- Lead the DevOps team by setting technical direction, defining standards, and promoting engineering excellence through automation and reduction of manual effort.
- Enhance team capabilities through direct coaching and by enforcing clear documentation practices.
- Evaluate and pilot AI-powered tools across the delivery pipeline, including for automated code reviews, test case generation, and anomaly detection in build and release systems.
- Collaborate with mobile engineering, QA, security, and product teams to align delivery practices with organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in DevOps, release engineering, or build engineering, with significant focus on mobile application delivery.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining GitLab CI pipelines using YAML for Android and iOS platforms.
- Familiarity with .NET build systems and ability to diagnose Android and iOS build issues within CI environments.
- Experience implementing secrets management solutions such as Vault, cloud-native secret stores, or equivalent, along with mobile signing infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience applying observability and SRE principles, including synthetic monitoring, alerting strategies, and SLOs, using tools like Dynatrace, Sentry, or Datadog.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing a DevOps team, shaping team culture, and driving technical excellence.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and pipeline tooling.
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams with clarity and consensus-building.
- Working knowledge of Docker, especially in containerized device testing and CI build environments.
