Lumen Technologies is hiring a Design Support Engineer to implement automation, AI, scripting, and data-driven solutions. In this role, you will support solution engineering and architecture teams by building tools that enhance operational efficiency, security, and customer experience. You will partner cross-functionally to co-create innovative solutions.
What You'll Do
- Build and validate automation and AI solutions using scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, and Bash and tools like UiPath or Automation Anywhere.
- Leverage Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to automate provisioning and management of infrastructure.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Azure DevOps to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Build and baseline data lakes to support the development and lifecycle management of AI agents.
- Design and implement secure, scalable data integrations into Salesforce, Azure, or on-premises cloud environments using APIs and automation frameworks.
- Utilize scripting and automation APIs from vendors like Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet to streamline network provisioning and security policy enforcement.
- Use scripting and automation tools to analyze customer environments and generate insights for scalable solutions.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams, managing ambiguity and communicating complex technical solutions to stakeholders.
- Provide feedback on automation opportunities and customer experiences for continuous improvement.
- Support technical sales efforts by showcasing automated and AI-powered solutions in demos, RFPs, and technical discussions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in automation, scripting, AI/ML, solution engineering, or consulting.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash.
- Experience with automation tools and frameworks like UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and AI/ML platforms.
- Strong understanding of modern network infrastructure, virtualization, cloud environments, and security automation.
- Demonstrated high EQ, excellent collaboration skills, and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex environments.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps cultures, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including translating technical solutions into business value.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative customer solutions.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
