GenePlanet is hiring a Deputy Laboratory Manager - NGS & Molecular Diagnostics

About the Role

What You'll Do

Lead daily laboratory operations, ensuring smooth coordination across all stages of Next-Generation Sequencing and molecular diagnostic workflows. You will play a central role in refining procedures to enhance accuracy, reduce processing time, and maintain consistent quality outputs.

Take ownership of protocol development and implementation, supporting the integration of new genomic technologies and equipment into existing systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to align Laboratory Information Management Systems with operational demands, ensuring data integrity and traceability.

Manage inventory, forecast resource needs, and coordinate with suppliers to prevent disruptions in laboratory activities. Serve as a primary point of contact between the lab and departments such as IT, Logistics, and Research & Development, facilitating clear and consistent communication—especially with international partners.

Lead troubleshooting efforts for technical challenges, ensuring all processes adhere to strict regulatory and internal quality standards. Your proactive approach will help maintain both compliance and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Possess documented experience in laboratory management or senior supervisory roles within NGS or molecular diagnostics environments.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of NGS platforms and molecular biology workflows.
  • Show strong leadership capabilities, with experience mentoring technical staff and engaging effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure, regulated settings.
  • Communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken, to support collaboration with international teams.

Benefits

Work in a locally based role with structured flexibility, located in Ljubljana. Contribute to a culture driven by technical precision, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. The position offers competitive compensation, opportunities for professional growth, and engagement in cutting-edge genomic diagnostics within a regulated, quality-focused environment.
