About the Role

SMBC Group is hiring a Deposit Product Manager to join its US Cash Management team. This role is pivotal for managing, growing, and developing SMBC’s suite of US Cash Management Deposit products and solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end product capabilities, systems enhancements, commercialization, and future development.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to the overall success of the US Cash Management business by driving growth and exceeding financial performance targets.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in deposit and investment product management across Cash Management.
  • Design and develop systems capabilities to support client growth, efficiency, and commercialization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow USD deposits, improve client experience, and enhance business profitability.
  • Manage DDA & TD products and capabilities, including account structuring and short-term investments.
  • Lead project teams in designing and delivering new DDA & TD products and enhancements.
  • Lead the effort to launch a new Deposit product system.
  • Develop client relationships focused on growth across Corporate, Financial Institutions, and Japanese Corporate client segments.
  • Attend or lead client meetings, providing deep industry knowledge to drive solutions and deal generation.
  • Analyze customer and market data to meet client needs and drive new product capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to deposits and liquidity.
  • Actively oversee, manage, and mitigate all risks associated with the deposit system.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 7-10 years of experience across Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Liquidity Management, Trade Finance & Working Capital solutions, and/or Corporate Banking, ideally within a global organization.
  • Proven negotiation skills and commercialization capabilities to drive client engagement and deal generation.
  • A strong track record of designing, developing, and rolling out best-in-class deposit capabilities and solutions.
  • Experience driving design requirements, technology implementations, and testing.
  • Experience working with institutional clients to optimize DDA structures and liquidity management.
  • Integral knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting deposits and strong risk & controls acumen.
  • A strong understanding of global markets, monetary policy, cash management, and industry trends affecting deposit product management.
  • A demonstrated ability to drive change, influence, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with a high level of confidence and experience to drive change as priorities evolve.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer-centric solutions.

  • Experience working in an agile environment with client-backed, design-based, and modern approaches to product conception, design, and delivery.

Team & Environment

US Cash Management sits within SMBC’s Global Transaction Banking Division (GTBD). This role reports to the Head of Cash Management Deposits for the US.

  • Compensation range: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00.
