Responsibilities
- Oversee and sustain multiple database servers across various environments using Atlas and Ops Manager, ensuring high availability and optimal performance
- Create and deploy redundancy and failover mechanisms to ensure system resilience
- Continuously monitor database performance, conduct tuning, and identify opportunities for enhancement
- Set up and manage replica sets and sharded clusters to enable scalability and fault tolerance
- Establish and execute backup protocols aligned with data retention policies
- Improve query efficiency and refine indexing approaches
- Uphold data security standards, including access controls, encryption, and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical production database issues on a 24/7 basis
- Perform root cause investigations and apply corrective measures to prevent future incidents
- Create and maintain documentation for best practices in database maintenance, monitoring, migration, and failover procedures
- Utilize automation tools to enhance and simplify database management workflows
Requirements
- Extensive experience with large-scale distributed database systems, particularly in performance optimization and tuning
- Demonstrated expertise in MongoDB scaling across data centers or deep understanding of MongoDB high availability strategies such as replica sets and sharding
- Solid operational background in NoSQL data modeling
- In-depth understanding of database performance, scaling principles, and tuning methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Highly self-driven with a willingness to adopt emerging database technologies and capable of working autonomously or collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Collaborative team member with strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving development environment with broad responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills, with comfort in cross-functional collaboration and open dialogue

- Proficiency in writing and maintaining Unix/Linux shell scripts is a plus
