Join Systems & Software (S&S), a division of Harris Computer Systems, as a Database Administrator. You will be responsible for tackling our most complex database challenges, conducting proactive system reviews to enhance reliability, and serving as a key escalation point. This role involves creating and approving technical documentation, mentoring team members, and supporting highly-available enterprise applications on a global scale.
What You'll Do
- Document problems and solutions as articles for the Knowledge Base.
- Review and approve knowledge articles written by other team members.
- Prepare necessary documentation for technical and operational procedures.
- Report defects and design issues to development teams.
- Work directly with Team, DBAs, and Development on the most complex database-related issues.
- Mentor and coach team members.
- Perform root cause analysis of recurring issues.
- Act as a single point of contact for escalations.
- Perform proactive reviews of hosting environments to improve system reliability and prevent future support engagements.
- Support highly-available cross enterprise common and middleware applications on a large, global network.
What We're Looking For
- Microsoft SQL Server Certified.
- Azure SQL certification is mandatory.
- Advanced SQL Server knowledge from working in a mid to large-size organization.
- Experience with SQL DB backup/restore, install/configure Database, maintain Database Security, and diagnose/troubleshoot Database errors.
- Working knowledge of technologies including Windows Operating System, Windows Clustering, AlwaysOn, and Active Directory.
- Proficient in hosting and deploying enterprise software, Azure, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
- Able to stay organized while managing and prioritizing over 5 simultaneous ongoing support investigations.
- Ability to train on and work with Development Teams to provide support and feedback for troubleshooting application and deployment issues.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Knowledge of writing advanced SQL/DB scripts for troubleshooting.
- Software support experience demonstrating troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop internal education programs.
- Verbal and written command of the English language.
Nice to Have
- T-SQL, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting knowledge.
- Experience with troubleshooting tools like BlackBox, Fiddler, WireShark, or equivalent system/application/performance monitoring tools.
