What You'll Do
Take full responsibility for the database infrastructure behind a critical cloud-native SaaS application serving thousands of users. You'll ensure systems remain highly available, secure, and performant by proactively managing cloud-hosted environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP. Monitor health, capacity, and performance metrics to maintain stability and respond effectively to incidents.
Work closely with engineering and platform teams to refine database schemas, optimize queries, and implement efficient indexing strategies. Lead efforts in automating provisioning, scaling, and maintenance tasks to support continuous growth. Develop and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster-resilience plans to safeguard critical data.
Requirements
- 3–7+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator or in a comparable technical role
- Proven expertise with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong ability in performance tuning, query optimization, and root-cause analysis
- Familiarity with high-availability architectures, replication, sharding, and failover systems
- Experience managing relational and/or NoSQL databases in production cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Background supporting SaaS platforms or high-traffic distributed systems
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD workflows
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to explore and adopt emerging technologies
