Hyundai USA is seeking a Manager, Data Scientist for its Safety Office. This is a hands-on, owner-led role where you will drive analytics from problem definition through solution implementation in close partnership with the Safety Office. You will independently explore complex data, identify insights, recommend data-driven solutions, and actively support their implementation.
What You'll Do
- Engage with the Hyundai/Genesis Safety Office to fully understand their analytics needs.
- Act as the subject matter expert regarding safety office machine learning models.
- Manage analytics projects related to the safety office and develop ontologies.
- Manage and give direction to external vendor data science resources.
- Pre-process, clean, and analyze large data sets.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis.
- Create new input features and build end-to-end data pipelines for machine learning models.
- Leverage machine learning and NLP techniques to mine unstructured data for insights, topic detection, keyword extraction, and sentiment analysis.
- Build and optimize models using machine learning techniques.
- Deploy, automate, and maintain models on production systems.
- Lead and participate in meetings, including scheduling with an agenda, identifying attendees, capturing notes, publishing action items, and following up on next steps.
- Present data and analysis clearly to enable data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with various internal teams and subject matter experts to understand data.
- Interface with internal clients to identify business issues, gather requirements, define project objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables, and report results.
- Support internal teams by identifying implications, making recommendations, and escalating issues as needed.
- Respond to emails, calls, and in-person inquiries; interface with IT, suppliers, and management; escalate issues as needed.
- Provide critical thinking and propose ideas or solutions in the best interest of the organization.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Six or more years of professional experience with at least three years shipping Python & SQL to production.
- Ability to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with PySpark and/or Hadoop.

- Annual base salary: $107,950 - $130,000
